As Senior Vice President of Operations for BW Integrated Systems, Brett leads all engineering and manufacturing team members at 6 operating facilities around the United States toward a shared vision... One global operations team, working together in a people-centric culture to provide innovative product solutions, exceptional customer experiences, operational excellence, and a safe and fulfilling environment for our associates.
Brett’s career in engineering and manufacturing began in the heavy transportation industry where he worked for General Motors’ Electro-Motive Division. His team was charged with improving the re-manufacturing processes that enabled GM customers to extend the useful life of locomotive assets. He later worked in the defense industry with Alliant Techsystems where he led numerous products through design-for-manufacturability, pre-production, manufacturing, and testing phases. Brett transitioned to the packaging industry in 1995 and found a home with Bemis Packaging Machinery Company, which would later be acquired by Barry Wehmiller’s Thiele Technologies Division. At Bemis, Brett was a member of the Executive Leadership Team, gaining a complete understanding of the business that continues to serve him well today. Brett helped that business to expand its manufacturing capacity from one facility in Minneapolis with $30M of annual revenue to a thriving Global business with 6 manufacturing facilities around the world, over 600 team members and an annual revenue of $145M.
“In operations, at the end of the day, it really boils down to one singular goal - creating value,” Brett says. “Value for our clients by delivering exceptional experiences and honoring the trust they place in us when they choose us as their provider of equipment and automation solutions. That means not only delivering high quality products that do what we say they’ll do, but also communicating well, delivering on time, and ensuring those lines go in and start-up quickly. Value for our business stakeholders by continuously striving to drive waste and inefficiencies out of our designs and processes. And value for our team members by creating an environment where they feel challenged, supported and appreciated – and are inspired to find their true success.”
A native of Minnesota, Brett resides in Elk River, MN with his wife, Rebecca. Almost empty-nesters, their children Jacob and Jessica attend rival Big 10 schools. Jake is a senior at Wisconsin, and Jessie is sophomore at Minnesota. Brett earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from the University of St Thomas. In his spare time, Brett enjoys woodworking and spending time at his rustic cabin in the quiet woods of northwest Wisconsin.
